North Windships, a North Technology Group company, has formed with a vision to lead commercial shipping to a more sustainable future, lowering emissions and reducing impact on our environment.

The DynaRig is proven to be the most efficient, and safe sailing system for large vessels, operable by a single person from a control panel.

Continuously undertaking cutting-edge research, and working closely with other leaders in the industry to understand how we can utilise our expertise and facilities from the Dynarig within the commercial shipping space.

DynaRig

The DynaRig has proven itself as an effective alternative to conventional rigs for owners who are looking to reduce crew numbers and optimize sailing time and efficiency. To date, the DynaRig system has been installed on two vessels, Maltese Falcon and Black Pearl. It is now being developed by North Windships for the commercial shipping market.

Black Pearl

Built by Oceanco and launched in 2016, Black Pearl's revolutionary design features a number of ground-breaking features. The yacht's 2,900 square metres of sails can be set at the push of a button in just 7 minutes.

Maltese Falcon
Built by Perini Navi and delivered in 2006, Maltese Falcon was an ambitious undertaking by Dykstra Naval Architects that proved, for the first time, that the DynaRig could be highly effective in practice.

Captured by renowned photographer Onne van der Wal, this groundbreaking yacht features three freestanding carbon fibre masts, each equipped with five individually controlled sails. The masts rotate to optimise for wind direction, allowing the yacht to be fully rigged in just six minutes. Tacking takes a swift 90 seconds, ensuring more time to enjoy the exhilarating experience of sailing on this remarkable vessel.
